UW Health was one of only sixteen organizations that met their Better Buildings Challenge goal for 2018 and the only one in the healthcare sector. Through UW Health’s partnership with Sustainable Engineering Group and Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy Retrocommissioning program, they reduced energy consumption by more than 25% annually at University Hospital. Sustainable Engineering Group implemented low-cost measures resulting in a payback of less than one year for the entire project. In addition, UW Health received four Energy to Care awards from ASHE for University Hospital, West Clinic, East Clinic, and Digestive Health. All showed significant improvement over the last 1-2 years.
