University of Iowa Hospital


Sustainable Engineering Group was hired to provide retro-commissioning services for this 3 million ft² hospital in Iowa City, IA. The work involved identifying opportunities to reduce electrical and natural gas consumption to the hospital while maintaining or improving the facility’s operations, comfort and indoor air quality. Issues identified and implemented were optimized scheduling, demand control ventilation, simultaneous heating and cooling, duct static pressure reduction, optimization of air economizer and humidifier operation, and efficient staging of chilled water pumps.
