Sustainable Engineering Group was hired to perform retro-commissioning services at the Pappajohn Business Building on the University of Iowa Campus. This 187,000 square foot facility was originally built in 1994. The building consists of offices, classrooms, library, cafeteria, auditorium and study rooms.
Goals of the retro-commissioning efforts were to identify energy and operational savings, meet building requirements, and improve occupant comfort. Our work focused mainly on the existing HVAC equipment and the Building Automation System (BAS), and we successfully identified issues and opportunities to make the entire facility run more efficiently.
