The main objective of our Conservation Applied Research and Development (CARD) study is to evaluate the operational energy performance of an advanced technology called displacement ventilation. We have identified a regional sample of 26 buildings that utilize this technology, and compared their energy use to typical buildings of similar type, location, and size.
The next phase of the project is in progress. SEG has designed a survey aimed at determining potential cognitive and/or economic barriers to adopting this technology. The survey is currently being distributed to Minnesota architects and engineers. At least 30 surveys will be collected and analyzed. Cost-benefit analyses will be conducted, and a final report will be produced for review.
